Meet our solicitors
Judith Hutchinson, Director
Judith studied at Strathearn School and graduated in Law from Queen’s University Belfast in 1990 when she joined Mackenzie & Dorman as a trainee solicitor, qualifying in 1992. Judith heads the conveyancing and probate practice in the firm which covers wills, inheritance tax planning and trusts, and services for senior clients and their families, including providing advice on Enduring Powers of Attorney, Controllerships and planning for long-term care.

Judith is a member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP) and is the module co-ordinator for the Administration of Estates Course at the Institute for Professional Legal Studies, Belfast.
​
Also married with three adult children, Judith is a keen amateur dressmaker and an Ulster Rugby season ticket holder.
Jill McDowell, Director
Jill studied at Bloomfield Collegiate School and graduated in Law from Queen’s University Belfast, joining the practice as a trainee solicitor in 2006 and qualifying in 2009. Jill’s areas of practice include domestic conveyancing, wills and matters pertaining to senior clients and their families.

​Married with a young family, Jill has little time for hobbies but enjoys a game of badminton when she gets the chance.
Robyn Butler, Solicitor
Robyn studied at Assumption Grammar School and graduated from Queen’s University Belfast with a master’s in legal science in 2011. Robyn gained experience with a city centre law firm before becoming a trainee solicitor in 2015 and qualifying in 2017. Robyn’s areas of practice include domestic conveyancing, commercial property and Wills.

Robyn enjoys visiting local National Trust properties with her husband and children at weekends and on holidays.
Colin Bates, Consultant
Colin attended Annadale Grammar School and is a law graduate from Queen’s University Belfast, qualifying in 1984 as a trainee solicitor with the firm. Colin is the senior litigator in the firm with particular experience and interest in personal injury, family law and divorce. Colin also manages the firm’s commercial conveyancing practice.

Married with three adult children, Colin’s passion is supporting the Northern Ireland football team, home and away.
